Robert Woodward
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Robert combines a unique sense of humor and empathy to help patients overcome the stigma attached with life traumas that often result in PTSD, Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Bipolar and among others. He uses a variety of therapeutic techniques including Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT and DBT, Solution Focus Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy and Possibility Therapy to allow persons feeling stuck to move forward with their lives. Robert received his bachelors degree from then Valdosta State College in Speech Communications in 1984 and after a lengthy business career made a mid-life change graduating from Valdosta State University with a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2006. Recently he combined both degrees in serving as the County Manager for state contracted mental health agency with a staff of over 40 employees directly or indirectly under his supervision, including over a half dozen board certified Psychiatrists and over a dozen masters level therapists. When asked why he made the career change from business to therapy Robert replied, “I find it much more rewarding to make a difference (in someone’s life) than to simply make a dollar. Sometimes people just need help making sense out of nonsense.” Robert has lived in the South Georgia area all of his adult life. He has been married for over 27 years and jokes that it “taught me everything you need to know about what NOT to do in marriage”.  Robert works with all ages and all issues including marital conflict, PTSD, anxiety disorders, couples counseling, OCD, depression, grief, ADD/ADHD, child and adolescent behavioral issues, self-harming behaviors such as cutting/burning, abuse victims, and more.
